Joining the Choir

About Joining the Choir

The Olympia Peace Choir begins each season in September on the first Monday after Labor Day. We meet on Monday evenings during the school year at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Boulevard Road in Olympia from 7:15-8:45 p.m.

Potential new members are invited to our first two rehearsals to try The Olympia Peace Choir and see whether membership suits them.

New members who wish to join must submit a membership application and, if accepted, pay choir dues. Dues cover the cost of your music folder and contribute toward the cost of rehearsal space, director and accompanist stipends, and other expenses that go into running a large choral group.

Membership Cost

$280 for full season (September-May)

Payment plans and scholarships are available.

Minimum payment plan downpayment: $80

Minimum scholarship payment: $80

We are committed to making the choir accessible to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. If these costs would create a financial hardship, please contact our treasurer at treasurer@theolympiapeacechoir.org.

How to pay

When you complete your membership application, you will receive an email with information about our registration process. If we have space in the choir for you, we will send you a link to log into Chorus Connection, our choir management platform. There, you can pay in full, set up a payment plan, or apply for a scholarship.

Although we encourage using Chorus Connection’s payment portal, we will also send information about how to pay by check.

NOTE: This process is not automated! Please be patient as you await email instructions. If you have any questions, please reach out to membership@theolympiapeacechoir.org.

Membership Cap

In order to keep our choir at a manageable size for both our director and local venues, The Olympia Peace Choir does have a membership cap. We regret that membership cannot be guaranteed. We encourage anyone who sings in the soprano, alto, or contralto range to consider becoming a  member of our new treble choir, Treble Voices for Peace.

A Note from Our Artistic Director

Our motto is 'Quality through inclusion.' There are no auditions to become a member of the choir—we accept people of different ages, cultures, backgrounds and musical ability. We believe that one of the keys to a great choir performance is the relationship we have with each other. Our rehearsals are a nice balance of fun and hard work. Although TOPC has grown to 100 members, many of us consider it a family. We gather each Monday night from 7:15-8:45 p.m., and though most people are exhausted from the workday, we walk out of the rehearsal feeling energized, hopeful, and joyful.

The Olympia Peace Choir was created for YOU. Come and join us! You will be glad you did.

Peace,

Kerri Lynn Nichols
